A product of the youth academy, Juan built a successful career in European football and with the Brazilian national team. He played in two World Cups and established himself as a player with his quality of play, technique, and consistently impeccable demeanor.

At Flamengo he won several titles, such as the Mercosul Cup in 1999, the State Championships of 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2017, the Champions Cup in 2001, among others as an athlete in the youth divisions.
