Flamengo took to the field on Thursday night (16) and drew 1-1 with Madureira at the Amigão stadium in Campina Grande-PB, in the second round of the Cariocão. Thiaguinho scored the only goal for the red-black team. The Most Beloved faces Nova Iguaçu next Sunday (19) in search of their first victory in the championship. 

The game

The match began with both teams vying for possession. Madureira pushed forward more and exchanged passes in the Flamengo midfield. When Flamengo tried to get into the game, they couldn't coordinate their plays well, being neutralized by the Tricolor Suburbano defense. The Flamengo's first shot on goal came in the 17th minute, when Guilherme passed to Carlinhos, who fired a left-footed shot that went just wide of the post. 

Two minutes later, Zé Welinton made a good run down the left and crossed for Thiaguinho, who was free, to miss the clearest chance of the game so far. In the 32nd minute, Zé Welinton made another good move and crossed into the box for Lorran to head home dangerously. In the final stretch of the first half, the red-and-black team controlled possession but failed to find the net before halftime. 

Early in the second half, Flamengo pressed forward, and Lorran took a shot from outside the box, forcing the goalkeeper to make a great save. Guilherme then passed to Lorran, who shot, but Mota made another good save. The red-and-black team came back with a different attitude after the break. 

Then, in the 20th minute, Mengão opened the scoring in Campina Grande! Thiaguinho took advantage of a poor clearance by the Madureira defense and fired a first-time shot into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance. A beautiful goal from the red-and-black striker. 

In the final minutes, Madureira was awarded a penalty after the referee consulted VAR. Marcelo shot it into the middle of the goal, tying the match at 1-1. The match ended with the score tied. 

Week's agenda

Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Sunday (19) in a double dose. In pre-season in the USA, the main team faces São Paulo, at 17 pm (Brasília time), at Chase Stadium. The alternative team faces Nova Iguaçu, at 21 pm, at Castelão stadium (MA), for the third round of Cariocão.
