The celebration was red and black at the Brasileirão Player of the Year award ceremony on Monday night at Vivo Rio. Although Willians and Bruno were visibly disappointed not to receive the trophies for best in their positions, Flamengo, this year's Brazilian champion, was the big winner of the night. The event also included a tribute to the captain of the Brazilian national team's five-time championship, Cafu.

Flamengo took home two bronze trophies, specifically for Bruno and Willians, two silver trophies for Leo Moura and Maldonado, and three gold trophies for Andrade, Petkovic, and Adriano. The Emperor was also the competition's top scorer. The club also officially won the 2009 Brazilian Championship, and the Nação Rubro-Negra (Red-Black Nation), which averaged over 40 attendance during the season, received the Torcida de Ouro (Golden Fans) trophy.
