Flamengo's football department had the day off this Monday (March 29.03th) and no one was seen training on the Gávea pitch. However, a meeting to negotiate the renewal of midfielder Petkovic's contract stirred up activity at the club. In attendance were vice president of football Marcos Braz, the department's legal director, Luiz Manoel, the department's director Eduardo Manhães, as well as the midfielder and his agent, Josias Cardoso.

The conversation between the parties marked the beginning of negotiations. According to Flamengo's vice president of football, Marcos Braz, the club submitted a proposal to the player and his agent and is now awaiting a response.

"The meeting went well. Flamengo put its proposal on paper and delivered it to the player. However, we are not closed to negotiations. It was the first step. Petkovic will receive the same treatment we gave the other players in the contract renewal. The club is open to negotiations. However, we won't do anything crazy. We negotiated within our limits, as we did with everyone else," said Bras.

The director also explained that the player received the same value as the others, all within the club's renewal rules.

"He'll be valued just like the others. In December, we had a communication breakdown and ended up not being able to negotiate. Then, the club's election came up, and I didn't even know if I would stay in the position. Now, with more peace of mind, we're negotiating with the player. I asked the legal director here at the football club to invite Pet to this meeting. I wanted everyone to be here so there wouldn't be any confusion. Our proposal is on paper, and if we can agree on him staying here, it will be great for Flamengo," Bras concluded.

The players related to last Sunday's match (28.03) against América (2-1) will continue to have a day off this Tuesday (30.03). Andrade and co. will return to work, in Gávea, at 9:30 am, this Wednesday (31.03), in Gávea. The red-black squad will train full-time on this day.
