In front of the largest crowd of the 2009 Brazilian Championship, Flamengo played with character and defeated Fluminense 2-0 this Sunday at the Maracanã. With the result, the red-and-black team jumped to sixth place with 41 points, four points away from qualifying for the Copa Libertadores. Adriano shone, scoring both goals, taking over as the competition's top scorer.

Flamengo started the match on the attack, putting pressure on Fluminense. Just four minutes in, Zé Roberto received a beautiful pass from Léo Moura and nearly scored after Rafael cleared the ball for a corner. Denis Marques rose above the Tricolor defense and headed dangerously.
