On Saturday afternoon (27), Flamengo hosted Vasco at Maracanã for the fourth round of the Taça Guanabara, the first round of the Campeonato Carioca. In a tough match with many fouls, the teams ended up drawing 0-0.

With this result, Flamengo reaches ten points in the Taça Guanabara, adding three wins and one draw. The next challenge for the red-black team will be on Sunday (4), when Flamengo faces Nova Iguaçu, at 17 pm, at the Mané Garrincha stadium, in Brasília.

The game

The heavy rain falling at the Maracanã let up as the match approached its start. Once the game began, the teams started cautiously studying each other and looking for good chances. The match, which was tough from the opening minutes and featured many fouls, didn't offer many clear-cut opportunities for either side, as both defenses were well-organized and compact.

The balance of the first half was reflected in the few chances created by both teams during the initial 45 minutes. Thus, the Rio de Janeiro derby went into halftime tied at 0-0 at the Maracanã.

Before the first minute of the second half, Lucas Paquetá brought Flamengo very close to opening the scoring. After a beautiful cross into the box by Vinicius Junior, the number 11 almost headed the ball and nearly deceived goalkeeper Martín Silva, but the Vasco goalkeeper managed to deflect it. Shortly after, Everton Ribeiro and Paquetá threatened the opposing defense.

The match remained lively for both sides. While the defense formed by Léo Duarte and Rhodolfo kept Vasco's chances at bay, in addition to secure saves by César, Flamengo continued to press, mainly through Paquetá, Vinicius, and Felipe Vizeu.

Looking for more movement in Flamengo's attack, Paulo César Carpegiani gave Marlos his debut, taking Rômulo out of the game. In addition, he also substituted Everton Ribeiro and Felipe Vizeu, bringing on Jean Lucas and Lincoln to try and change the course of the match.

In the final stretch, Flamengo had an incredible chance when Marlos found Vinicius alone in the area, and the youngster chipped the ball over Martín Silva, but it went wide. Shortly after, it was Jean Lucas's turn to receive the ball and aim for goal, but his attempt was deflected. Pressing until the final minutes, Flamengo couldn't score, and the score remained 0-0.
