Flamengo and Volta Redonda draw goalless in the second round of the Campeonato Carioca

By Flamengo Communication - inOn Saturday afternoon (29), still with the team full of young players, Flamengo faced Volta Redonda in the second round of the Campeonato Carioca, at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium. After 90 very hard-fought minutes, the teams did not leave the 0-0. Flamengo returns to the field on Wednesday (February 2), to face Boavista in the third round of the competition.
The game
The match started very studied, the teams had difficulty finding spaces. In the final stretch of the first half, Lázaro received the ball on the right and crossed, which hit Volta Redonda's Grasson's hand inside the box. The referee didn't award a penalty.
Flamengo's best chances of the first half followed. First, Thiaguinho took a corner from the right, the ball came back to him, and he crossed again, and Matheus França headed dangerously. Mengão almost opened the scoring. Before halftime, Yuri still had time to head the ball, which the opposing goalkeeper easily saved.
After the break, the first substitution of the match was made. João Gomes came on to replace Yuri.
In Mais Querido's first chance in the second half, Wesley crossed perfectly for André, but the Rubro Negro striker was unable to capitalize on the beautiful opportunity.
In the 17th minute, Thiaguinho received the ball on the left edge of the box, found Matheus França in a through ball, and the youngster crossed, and the ball crossed dangerously across the box. The boys were on the lookout for a goal.
