In Dorival Júnior's debut as manager and in the resumption of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo drew 0-0 with Bahia at Fonte Nova on Saturday night. With this result, the team reached 49 points, but dropped one position in the standings due to Grêmio's victory, which brought them to 50 points.

Dorival took over the team on Friday and had a day of talks with the squad. Without goalkeeper Diego Alves and midfielder Diego, both injured, and Henrique Dourado, suspended, the coach preferred not to change the formation that had been used, fielding César, Willian Arão, and Lincoln in the altered positions.

It was a game with few thrills in both halves, featuring many long-range shots, without causing major problems for either goalkeeper. Two minutes into the first half, Lucas Paquetá had the first chance with a shot from the edge of the area, but the ball was weak and easily saved by Anderson.

Bahia responded with two long-range attacks, which César defended well, until Flamengo, through a good shot by Vitinho, also from outside the area, made Anderson work again, at 24 minutes. Five minutes later, Paquetá found Lincoln in the area, but it was another shot wide and that's how the first half ended.

On the return leg, Flamengo was more present and stronger on the field. The talk with Dorival in the locker room resulted in a bolder team that pressed Bahia in their own half. But chances were few.

Bahia came close in the 34th minute with a powerful shot that César saved brilliantly. Flamengo responded with Marlos Moreno making a great play down the wing, but he misplaced his cross on the final pass and the ball went out of play.

Dorival brought on Berrío in place of Vitinho and Renê in place of Trauco, but the changes did not alter the course of the match, which remained goalless and ended 0-0. Flamengo returns to Rio and prepares for the match against Corinthians, next Friday (05), in São Paulo.
