With a spot in the quarterfinals of the Primeira Liga Cup secured, Flamengo went to Fortaleza to face Ceará, at Castelão, on Wednesday night (22). In a lukewarm clash, Mais Querido was unable to break through the home team's defense and drew 0-0. The result left the red-black team in first place in Group B with seven points.

Already qualified, Zé Ricardo's men entered the field looking to secure top spot in the group. Needing a win, Ceará tried to create scoring chances, which were always stopped by defenders Juan and Donatti or goalkeeper Alex Muralha. The red-and-black team's best move in the first half came from a beautiful play by Márcio Araújo and Lucas Paquetá, but the youngster's shot went wide.

In the second half, the red-and-blacks continued to try to break through Ceará's defense with fast moves down the flanks, but to no avail. The best chances fell to Felipe Vizeu, Rodinei, and Cafú, all of which were stopped by goalkeeper Éverson.

Flamengo will only play again in the Primeira Liga Cup at the end of August, and has no opponent yet. The next red-black challenge, this time in the semi-final of the Guanabara Cup, will be against Vasco on Saturday (25), at 18:30 pm, at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium, in Volta Redonda.
