Flamengo and Chapecoense drew in the first leg of the Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana round of 20, played Wednesday night at Arena Condá. For the return leg, on the 19th at 15:0 pm at Ilha do Urubu, a new 0-XNUMX draw will send the match to penalties. A draw with goals qualifies Chapecoense, while Flamengo only needs a simple victory. This was the first goalless draw between the two teams in the eight meetings they have played to date.

It was a tight match, but Flamengo had the better scoring chances in both halves. Goalkeeper Jandrei worked hard, making some great saves, while Diego Alves was rarely called upon, only seeing more action late in the match. 

The game started out fair for both teams. Flamengo and Chapecoense scrambled for possession, with many contests, but no one completely dominating the match. The home side heavily marked Diego in the middle, while Flamengo pushed Everton and Berrío down the flanks to attack. A free kick in the 10th minute found Guerrero, who fired a free kick, but Moisés deflected the ball out for a corner. Five minutes later, Guerrero had another chance with a dangerous shot from outside the box. 

At 22, Rueda was forced to make his first change, with Everton coming off injured and Vinicius Júnior coming on, and the team improved. They dominated possession, reaching 63%, and attacks began to happen more frequently. At 33, Berrío burst down the right and crossed, but Jandrei saved before the ball reached Guerrero. 

In the final 10 minutes, Chapecoense upped the tempo and created some good opportunities, such as in the 41st minute, when Alan Ruschel unleashed a beautiful shot from the left, forcing Diego Alves into a great save. And that was just the first half. 

Second time

The second half started lively, with the home side attacking to the roar of the fans. But Flamengo soon got the ball back and regained control. In the sixth minute, Juan rose higher than the defense and headed powerfully, but right at the center of the goal, making it easy for Jandrei to save.

Chapecoense's goalkeeper performed a miracle in the 14th minute. Réver headed the ball into the ground from a free kick at the edge of the box, but Jandrei was well placed and prevented what would have been the first goal for the red-blacks.  

Chapecoense only made a serious attack in the 30th minute of the second half, with Penilla shooting from distance. Diego Alves saved, but the ball fell to Reinaldo, who, face to face, shot wide.  

Rueda replaced Berrío with Lucas Paquetá, and in the 40th minute, the youngster took a long-range shot that nearly caught the opposing goalkeeper off guard. Chapecoense responded with Penilla, who went one-on-one with Diego but shot wide, and the game ended goalless, leaving the final to Rio de Janeiro next Wednesday.
