All was equal in the derby. After a sluggish first half, Flamengo and Fluminense played a much better 45 minutes in the second half and finished the game 1-1, an unfair result considering Flamengo's performance. Flamengo was the better team throughout the match, having more chances, but couldn't convert their superiority into goals. Fluminense took the lead with an own goal by Pará in the eighth minute, and Flamengo equalized in the 24th minute with Réver. With the result, Flamengo remains in seventh place with 40 points and returns to action on Sunday against Chapecoense at Arena Condá at 17 pm.  

The match was divided into two distinct halves. While the first half saw little action from both teams, the second half saw a shift, and the 39 fans at Maracanã finally had a good game to watch. 

It was a slow first half. Neither team pushed forward much and didn't have many clear-cut chances. Flamengo had more possession, but only took a shot on goal after 25 minutes. 

In the 30th minute, things improved for Flamengo. Everton Ribeiro collected a rebound from distance and nearly caught Cavalieri off guard, who palmed it out for a corner. Réver then volleyed a beautiful shot that was brilliantly saved by the Tricolor goalkeeper. These were, in fact, the best chances of the first half, which ended goalless and with little excitement. 

Flamengo came out with a different approach for the second half, and just two minutes in, Paquetá challenged the defense but couldn't control the ball in the six-yard box. In the eighth minute, an unexpected blow came. Sornoza ran down the left and passed to Dourado, who crossed into the Flamengo box. Pará tried to clear the ball but ended up shooting into his own net, scoring Fluminense's goal.  

Rueda made changes to the team, taking off Rômulo and Rodinei and replacing them with Arão and Guerrero. Flamengo improved and began to pressure Fluminense more dangerously. The reward came in the 24th minute. Éverton's perfect free kick found Réver's head, tying the score. Rueda made another change, putting Flamengo ahead by replacing Marcio Araújo with Trauco. 

However, chances were few and far between. In the 46th minute, the best chance to turn the game around came. Everton Ribeiro took the ball and found Berrío on the wing, but the Colombian's shot went wide. Despite having more momentum, Flamengo couldn't find a second goal and suffered a draw in their XNUMXth match at Maracanã following the World Cup renovations.
