The game
Botafogo started the match better and opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the first half. Flamengo was undeterred by the goal conceded and went after the equalizer. In the 16th minute, Alan Patrick took a free kick from the left edge of the penalty area, and Jefferson palmed it away for a corner. The play was almost a rehearsal for the midfielder's goal, who came from the same area of the field, but with the ball rolling. In the 31st minute, Alan Patrick received a cross from Rodinei and delivered a beautiful finish, sending a left-footed shot into the top corner: 1-1.
For the second half, Muricy Ramalho took off Ederson and brought on Emerson. In the eighth minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Botafogo. Paulo Victor saved Rodrigo Lindoso's shot, but he managed to score on the rebound: 2-1 for the opponent. The Rubro-Negro had almost 70% possession and created scoring chances, such as Marcelo Cirino's lob attempt in the 23rd minute, which the black-and-white defense cleared almost on the line. And the goal that tied the score once again came from the number 7. In the 36th minute, Cirino received a cross from Gabriel, who replaced Alan Patrick, and headed it firmly into the net, giving the final score: 2-2.
