Flamengo draws with São Paulo and falls further away from the lead
With one point added at Morumbi, the team is six behind the leader Palmeiras

Flamengo drew with São Paulo this Sunday afternoon at Morumbi Stadium, returning with a single point from the São Paulo capital, but allowing the lead to Palmeiras to increase from four to six with six rounds remaining. Flamengo's goals were scored, one in each half, always after São Paulo took the lead. Uribe and Rodinei scored. It was the team's second consecutive draw in the competition, and the team remains unbeaten under Dorival Junior, with three draws and three wins.
As usual, Flamengo had more possession and had more shots than their opponents. They had 17 shots to São Paulo's six, with 61% possession. They were a much more incisive team on the field, but they couldn't come away with a positive result. In the first half, there were few clear-cut scoring opportunities in a game that started vibrantly. Just seven minutes in, Diego Souza opened the scoring for the home team. A minute later, Renê crossed perfectly for Uribe to equalize. With more to lose on the field, Flamengo pressed São Paulo but had no real chances, and the game went to the locker room at the end of the 45th minute.
In the second half, Flamengo returned with the same team and drive, but it was São Paulo who came out on top. Five minutes in, young Helinho hit a beautiful shot to score the second goal. From then on, it was all Flamengo. Dorival Junior brought Diego, Geuvânio, and Rodinei onto the field. And it was the full-back who tied the match in the 36th minute. Vitinho made a great play, freed two players, and crossed. After a scuffle in the box, Rodinei arrived with a shot to make it 2-2.
Flamengo still had other opportunities to turn the game around, but they ran into the goalkeeper and bad luck when it came to finishing. The final result was a draw that leaves Rubro-Negro far from the lead. Next Saturday (11), Mais Querido will face the classic against Botafogo, at 19 pm, at the Nilton Santos stadium.
