Returning to Maracanã for the Campeonato Carioca, Flamengo drew 0-0 against Vasco on Sunday night (4), in the sixth round of the Campeonato Carioca. Rubro-Negro will face Botafogo next Wednesday (7). 

The game

The derby began with Flamengo attacking. In the first minute, Wesley was fouled in the right corner near Vasco's box, which resulted in a yellow card for the Vasco defender, although the foul did not pose any danger. Soon after, Flamengo attacked again, but this time from the left, with Varela crossing to Arrascaeta, who headed well, but the goalkeeper saved. 

Flamengo continued to attack, always trying to keep ten players in the opposing half, but they couldn't find space. From the 20th minute onwards, Flamengo lost more space, resulting in more attacks from the opposing team, but they didn't pose as much of a threat. 

In the 40th minute, Arrascaeta attempted a shot from outside the box, but the goalkeeper palmed it away, leading to a corner kick from which Fabrício Bruno rose but headed wide. Soon after, in the 43rd minute, Arrascaeta received a pass from Wesley and passed first time to Pedro, who shot from outside the box but sailed over the goal. 

When Flamengo regained the pressure, the opposing team found a cross for Vegetti, who headed it well, but Léo Pereira saved the goal and cleared the ball off the line. Five minutes later, the referee blew the final whistle at the Maracanã stadium.

The Red-Blacks returned to the field wearing their away kits. In the first minute, Wesley was fouled in the opposing half, Arrascaeta took the shot, and Fabricio Bruno headed it wide. In the 7th minute, the ball fell to Pedro, who shot in the box but was blocked. The play led to a corner kick that Arrascaeta took, and Léo Pereira volleyed it over the goal.

Valuing possession and dominating the midfield, Flamengo secured a pass through Arrascaeta, who found Gerson inside the box, but he was in an offside position. In the 13th minute, Léo Pereira saved the Red-Black goal once again, clearing a ball that had already gone past Rossi. 

Cebolinha received a cross in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper saved it. Gabi and Bruno Henrique came on in the 21st minute, replacing Pedro and Everton Cebolinha, respectively. In the 28th minute, De La Cruz found Gabi, who shot, but the goalkeeper saved it, as he was in an offside position. After this move, Gabi took a chance from outside the box, but the shot went wide of the opponent's goal.  

Another substitution by Tite, Luiz Araújo came on for De La Cruz in the 31st minute. Bruno Henrique was fouled on the left side of the field, near the opponent's box. Luiz Araújo passed to Gabi, who shot first time, but it went over the goal. In the 40th minute, Arrascaeta received the ball from Gerson in the opponent's box, was brought down, and the referee awarded a penalty to Flamengo! Gabigol hit the ball into the goalkeeper's right corner, but ultimately failed to convert. After five minutes of added time, the referee ended the match with a draw at Maracanã.

Next appointment

Rubro-Negro will face Botafogo on Wednesday (7) at 21:30 pm at Maracanã. The match is valid for the seventh round of the Campeonato Carioca.
