First half without goals.
Flamengo started the match pressing Avaí's build-up play. Just three minutes in, Pará made a good individual play, clearing the defender and, near the byline, crossed to Damião, who narrowly missed the ball in a challenge with the goalkeeper. Shortly after, Vinicius Júnior and Damião again came close to scoring. In the following minutes, the pace slowed and, despite dominating possession, Flamengo concentrated their attacks in midfield, without managing to create more clear goal-scoring opportunities.

At 23 minutes came the first shot on goal: Diego took a long-range shot that went over the crossbar. Then, another good play; Éverton stole the ball on the right, analyzed the possibilities and chipped the ball towards Vinicius Júnior, but the goalkeeper caught it. A few minutes before the end of the first half, Éverton crossed again, this time to Damião, who headed firmly towards goal, but the ball was deflected at the last moment by the defender. On the other side, with their aim off or stopped by the Flamengo defense, Avaí didn't give goalkeeper Thiago much trouble in the first 45 minutes.

Second time
In the very first play of the second half, Vinicius Júnior took a first-time shot that grazed the post, with a deflection. From the resulting corner kick by Mancuello, who came on at halftime replacing Willian Arão, another deflection from the defense almost sent the ball into the net. In the ensuing play, Mancuello took another corner, the ball found Diego at the edge of the area, at the far post, and the midfielder returned it to the Argentine, who dived and headed the ball into the side netting. But despite Flamengo's dominance, Avaí scored on the counter-attack from this play in the 10th minute.

Flamengo didn't have time to lament and needed only five minutes to equalize. And it was beautiful: picking up a rebound almost in the six-yard box, Leandro Damião scored a perfect bicycle kick and shook the net past goalkeeper Kozlinski: 1-1. Mancuello came on with confidence and created another great opportunity with a powerful cross that forced the opposing goalkeeper to make a great save. After him, Renê also threatened, with a shot that was dangerously deflected by the defense.

Flamengo were playing better in the match when, in the 34th minute, the referee awarded a penalty that could have been a cold shower on the team's good moment, but after talking to the assistant referee, he reversed his decision.

The clock showed almost 48 minutes when Renê took a beautiful long-range shot that narrowly missed the post, but the score at Ressacada remained tied.
