The game
The red-and-black team started imposing its rhythm right from the start of the first half. In the sixth minute, Pará threatened on the right flank, but was dispossessed by the Santos defense. Soon after, the black-and-white defense managed to clear the ball before Gabriel could arrive, following a dangerous cross from Jorge. In the 15th minute, Kayke received the ball unmarked and shot, which Vanderlei saved. The Santos goalkeeper would make another save two minutes later from Gabriel's shot, securing a scoreless first-half draw.

In the second half, coach Oswaldo de Oliveira brought on Guerrero for Kayke, but was hampered by having to replace the injured Pará with Ayrton. The team continued to push for the first goal, but were thwarted by the Santos goalkeeper's excellent performance. In the 41st and 43rd minutes, Guerrero and Canteros nearly scored, but were denied by Vanderlei's saves.

In the 47th minute, referee Heber Roberto Lopes sent off Jorge after issuing his second yellow card. Three minutes later, the final whistle at Vila declared a draw.
