Flamengo's Conmebol Libertadores debut was on the right foot, and to keep things going, they'll be counting on the support of the World's Biggest Fanbase. Flamengo will face LDU on Wednesday (13) at 21:30 pm at Maracanã, and the Nation has sold out all tickets in advance. The match against the Ecuadorians will be Mengão's first as home team in the current edition of the international competition.
In the first round, Flamengo overcame an altitude of over 3.700 meters in Oruro and defeated San José by the narrowest of margins. Striker Gabigol scored the first Flamengo goal in the 2019 CONMEBOL Libertadores.
Preparation
Hello, Rodrigo Caio!
Preparations for the clash ended on Tuesday afternoon (12) and before training, defender Rodrigo Caio gave a press conference at Ninho do Urubu and spoke about his desire to win the Conmebol Libertadores.
"The fans' will is our will. It's our desire and our dream. We work for this, to win major competitions. The Libertadores is one of them, and we'll leave everything on the field. Our soul, dedication, and every drop of sweat to put on a great match. We'll go for the result throughout the 90 minutes."
The number 3 also took the opportunity to praise the strength of the Nation, which sold out all tickets for the first home game in the competition.
"It's a great joy and shows how much the fans trust us. They will support us in this important moment, and on the field we will try to demonstrate our strength, commitment, and dedication to achieve a positive result. That's what the fans will want in the stadium; on the field, there can and will be no lack of commitment and motivation. We're happy to have the nation supporting us. Opponent's X-ray
Like Flamengo, LDU debuted with a victory in the 2019 Libertadores. The Ecuadorians beat Peñarol 2-0 and arrive at the second round at the top of Group D. Champion in 2008, the team participates in the main tournament in South America for the 18th time.
LDU is led by coach Pablo Repetto, and their style of play against Peñarol drew attention. The Ecuadorians had the third-highest number of shots in the first round: 18 attempts (15 from inside the box and only three from distance). Forward Juan Anangonó took the most chances: four attempts.
Aerial play is one of our next opponent's main offensive weapons. Against Penãrol, LDU used crosses on six occasions, leading to headers. The first goal of the 2-0 victory came from a corner kick.
Still analyzing the aerial game, full-back José Quinteros and midfielder Jhojan Julio were the players who crossed the ball into the box the most. Each player passed the ball to the attackers on eight occasions.
LDU is coming off a loss in the Ecuadorian Championship. In their last match before facing "Mais Querido," Pablo Repetto's team lost 3-0 away to Macará. In the national league, our opponent in the second round of the Libertadores is in sixth place, with ten points so far.

The Red-Black Nation once again did its part and all 57 thousand tickets were sold in advance.
