Flamengo faces Atlético-PR away from home aiming for the lead

Duel opens sequence of three exclusive games in the Brazilian before the return of the knockout stages

This Sunday, Mengão faces another match in the 2018 Brazilian Championship. Starting at 11 a.m., the ball will roll at Arena da Baixada for Atlético Paranaense vs. Flamengo, a match valid for the 19th round of the competition. It will also be the Mais Querido's first game in the 11 a.m. slot in this season's championship.

Splitting its time between three competitions, Flamengo achieved a crucial result last Wednesday, eliminating Grêmio in the Copa do Brasil with a 1-0 victory at Maracanã. Everton Ribeiro's goal in the fourth minute sealed the match and their qualification. But now, the situation is different, and Flamengo faces the Brasileirão again.

After two weeks of alternating competitions, there will now be three consecutive matches in the national championship. After Atlético-PR, Flamengo will play Vitória on Thursday at Maracanã and América Mineiro on Sunday in Belo Horizonte, before the return leg against Cruzeiro in the CONMEBOL Libertadores.

In second place with 37 points, Flamengo is looking for another win to maintain its position at the top and also to close the gap on the teams below. Atlético Paranaense is in 19th place with 15 points.

Hi, Paquetá

Without rest, the team trained normally after the game and traveled to Curitiba this Saturday. On Friday, the team received news that Lucas Paquetá had been called up to the Brazilian national team. The young star, in addition to expressing his joy at the call-up, also spoke about Sunday's game at Arena da Baixada.

"I don't know if I'll play on Sunday yet. We've rested, we've turned things around, the lead is at stake, and it's going to be a tough game. We can't do anything different from what we're already doing and go in with full force to come out with the win," warned Paquetá, who also commented on the simultaneous competitions.

"Competing in more than one competition is always more difficult, but we here are willing to go for it. That's what defines Flamengo: going in to win. We'll do our part to reclaim that lead," he added.
