Flamengo takes the field this Sunday seeking its first trophy of the season. The Guanabara Cup is worth the first round of the Campeonato Carioca and will place the team directly in the final four. The match will be played in Cariacica, at the Kléber Andrade stadium, at 17 pm.

The match will pit the two best teams from each group of the Guanabara Cup against each other. Flamengo led Group B with four wins and one draw (15 points), while Boavista was their equal in Group C with three wins and two losses (nine points). Along the way, the Saquarema team beat Fluminense and lost to Botafogo, but secured qualification by having one more win than the black and white team. In the semifinals, with the advantage of a draw, they eliminated Bangú with a 2-2 draw at Nilton Santos Stadium.
Total respect
In a press conference at CT George Helal, coach Paulo César Carpegiani recognizes the red-black favoritism, but asks for total concentration and respect for the opponent in this Sunday's decision.
"The football scene is very even. I'm from Rio Grande do Sul, where the sport is stronger and even more competitive. Here, it's played more, and it's nothing new that we have the possibility of deciding the Guanabara Cup with Boavista. I see it as normal; it's more of a reassurance that down the road you'll be playing in the final four. That's the most important thing. If Boavista made it, it's because they have quality," said Carpegiani.
Preparation
Flamengo had a busy week to prepare, even during Carnival. Coach Paulo César Carpegiani worked with his entire squad, but some players, such as goalkeepers Júlio Cesar and Diego Alves, will be unavailable.
Midfielder Diego spoke about the training sessions and how the coach prepares the team, with a lot of intensity and changes in the players.
"Carpegiani demands more marking from non-defenders. Over the course of 12 years, I played in Europe, playing four different positions, and every coach adds new things to our work. I think the main change is mobility. It requires a lot of movement, it demands a lot from us. We have to make everything we do automatic. We train daily so that it can become increasingly solid and clear."
