Time to switch gears. The Brazilian Championship takes a back seat and the Copa do Brasil begins. With a 2-0 advantage from the first leg at Ilha do Urubu, Flamengo travels to Santos seeking a place in the competition's semi-finals. For the match, the team will be without Everton Ribeiro, Geuvânio, Diego Alves, and Rhodolfo due to regulations prohibiting new player registrations. However, they will have Diego, Rever, Everton, Marcio Araújo, and Cuellar back, all of whom were rested last Saturday in the victory against Coritiba.

The Colombian striker was the standout player in the last match against Coritiba, in the Brazilian Championship, when he scored a goal and was one of the best players on the field. Berrio spoke about the advantage gained in the first game and the team's mindset for the season. 

"Winning at home by two goals was very important. Having that advantage is crucial in these 180-minute matches. Now, we have to go to Vila Belmiro to secure qualification. We have a good team and we're going there with the mindset of winning. We're thinking about winning every game from now on. We're primarily focused on Santos, on continuing in the Copa do Brasil. From this point on, we need to gain more and more confidence, because it's important to keep winning, whether at home or away," said the striker.

Flamengo holds a good advantage for the second leg. In the first match, at Ilha do Urubu in June, the Rubro-Negro won 2-0, with two beautiful goals from Everton and Cuellar, one in each half. Check out the highlights on Fla TV. behind the scenes of the match and goals from unique angles.
 

Flamengo and Santos had already decided the Brazilian Championship in 1983, also in two matches. In the first game, Flamengo won 2-1 at Morumbi, giving Santos the advantage. But the return leg was at the Maracanã, and there the situation would be different. With more than 150,000 people packing the stadium, Flamengo needed to win by two goals. And right away, the first goal came, after just one minute, through Zico. The goal calmed things down a bit, but the mission wasn't yet accomplished. In the 39th minute of the first half, the goal that would secure the title arrived. Zico took a free kick and Leandro headed it in for the second. The Brazilian three-peat was within reach, but Flamengo still managed to score a third, through Adílio, in the final minute of the match, sparking celebrations at the Maracanã. 

The new generation also has its Flamengo vs. Santos match to remember. And it couldn't be any other game than Santos 4 x 5 Flamengo, in the 2011 Brazilian Championship. At Vila Belmiro, it was 3-0 for them in the first half, and Ronaldinho Gaúcho scored one. Penalty for Santos. Elano takes it, Felipe saves it and starts doing keepy-uppies. Thiago Neves scores the second. Deivid equalizes. At the beginning of the second half, Neymar scores Santos' fourth goal. Ronaldinho, with a brilliant free kick, equalizes. Ronaldinho, again, scores his third and turns the game around. The game of the year, of the decade, and a strong contender for the list of the century, still in 2011. 

Flamengo is the team with the most wins in the history of the Copa do Brasil, with 99 victories in 166 games. 

Playing away from home, their record is also very good. In 85 games away from Rio, Flamengo had 43 wins, 21 draws and 21 losses, with 141 goals scored and 103 conceded.

In the seven times that Flamengo opened a 2-0 lead in the first leg, as the home team, they maintained the advantage and went on to advance on five occasions. Against Paysandu and Corinthians in 1989, Taguatinga in 1990, Palmeiras in 1997 and Vasco in 2006.

If they qualify, this will be the 11th time Flamengo has reached the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil.
