On Wednesday night (18), Flamengo said goodbye to the 2016 Copa do Brasil. With the defeat in the first leg of the second phase of the competition, 2-1, away from home, at Castelão, the team needed to win, but Fortaleza repeated the score of the first match in Volta Redonda and left with the spot.
Pio opened the scoring three minutes into the first half and doubled his lead in the second half, making Flamengo's mission a daunting one: they needed four goals to stay in the championship. In the 43rd minute, Alan Patrick took a fine free kick to reduce the deficit, but the result didn't change Flamengo's situation.
