Preparations completed! Flamengo held their final training session this Wednesday afternoon (18) at Ninho do Urubu before the match against Peñarol, which takes place tomorrow (19) at 19pm at Maracanã. The match is the first leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals.
Coach Tite led a tactical drill to determine the starting lineup for the match. The good news is that Uruguayan De La Cruz has recovered from his injury and will be available. New signings Alex Sandro, Alcaraz, and Plata have been registered for the competition and will also strengthen the squad.
Meanwhile, forward Luiz Araújo will undergo arthroscopy on his right knee and is out of the game. He was injured in the first half of the derby against Vasco last Sunday.
Flamengo and Peñarol have faced each other 15 times, with a perfect balance. Flamengo has won six, drawn three, and lost six. The last meeting between the teams was in the 2019 Copa Libertadores, which ended in a 0-0 draw in Montevideo.
