The group stage of the Rio Cup is coming to an end, and Flamengo faces Fluminense with their sights set on a semifinal spot. The derby will be played at Maracanã Stadium, and kickoff will begin at 16 p.m.

With an eye on a spot in the Rio Cup semifinals, Flamengo faces Fluminense this Sunday afternoon (24), at 16 pm, at Maracanã. Rubro-Negro depends only on itself to advance in the competition and more than 35 thousand tickets were sold for the clash.

Game preparation

Hello, Bruno Henrique!

During the week of preparation for the classic, Bruno Henrique gave a press conference at Ninho do Urubu and spoke about the strong sequence of games that Mais Querido has ahead.

"It's a tough sequence of games, in the Libertadores too. We have to win every game. If we don't win, we can't lose, and that has to be our goal this year," said the number 27.

Flamengo vs Fluminense

Flamengo depends solely on itself to qualify for the semifinals of the 2019 Rio Cup. In the event of a draw, they'll need to hope for a slip-up from Cabofriense. If they lose to Fluminense and Cabofriense draws with Madureira, the spot will be decided on goal difference.

Flamengo and Fluminense faced off in the 2017 Campeonato Carioca final. Flamengo prevailed, securing the title after two victories at the Maracanã (1-0 and 2-1). Almost all of their decisive clashes, in official matches, were in the Campeonato Carioca. Only in 2009 and 2017 did the two teams face each other in another tournament, the Copa Sudamericana, when their rivals eliminated Fluminense in the first round of 2009. Flamengo got their revenge in 2017, eliminating their opponents in the quarterfinals.

Maracanã is the main venue for the Flamengo-Flu matches. Since its inauguration in 1950, the stadium has hosted 236 Flamengo-Flu matches, with 91 Flamengo wins, 76 Tricolor wins, and 69 draws. In goals scored, the "Mais Querido" (the most beloved team) has a new advantage: 324 for and 293 against. Since 2001, there have been 72 Flamengo-Flu matches, with 28 Flamengo wins, 23 draws, and 21 Fluminense wins.
