With ten points in five rounds of the Brasileirão, Flamengo is in good form. With a goal from number 47, Felipe Vizeu, the Rubro-Negro beat Vitória 1-0, this Thursday (02), at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium, in Volta Redonda. With the positive result, the Rubro-Negro is in fourth place in the table and finished the round within the G-4.
Recording their second consecutive victory in the competition, interim coach Zé Ricardo's team dominated the match, but only secured the victory in the second half, after making Vitória's goalkeeper and defense work hard. Despite a tightly contested first half, the team closest to finding the net was the Mais Querido. The best play of the first half came from youngster Felipe Vizeu, who dribbled into the box and left Mancuello free. Vitória's full-back Diego Renan saved the Argentine midfielder's shot on the line. After the break, Flamengo grew into the game and scored the winning goal through Vizeu. In the 18th minute, the forward received the ball from Arão and headed it in to make it 1-0. Mancuello's beautiful lob on Vitória midfielder Flávio in the first half and Marcelo Cirino's fine flick on forward Kieza in the second half were other highlights of the match.

Despite being used little in the game, Flamengo's goalkeeper, Alex, made a fine save in the second half from a shot by full-back Diego Renan. After the match, the goalkeeper praised the recent run of performances. "The more goalscorer plays, the more confident he becomes."
One of Flamengo's standout performers this year, midfielder Alan Patrick also commented on their good form. "I think we're taking advantage of it. This is our third goal from a set piece, and these days, with the level of football we're at, set pieces are deciding games well. I think the attitude has changed, the team has been playing with a lot of determination, and tactically, we've managed to get things right. Our team, with the quality it has, will always be creating opportunities."
Palmeiras' midfielder William Arão spoke about the Rubro-Negro's next match. "Great game, Palmeiras has a great team. The Brazilian Championship is one of the toughest in the world. We're going to rest, and the important thing is that both teams played today. We'll have the same recovery time. We'll fix the things that aren't right and work to win."
The man of the match, Felipe Vizeu, also spoke after the victory. "I know I have to be there at the right moment, at the right time to score goals. I'm reaping what I always sowed. I know I have a nose for goal."
In his press conference, interim coach Zé Ricardo emphasized the importance of the fans at the current moment: "We want to bring the fans back. They need to support these guys. The fans are very strong and help a lot. It's just the beginning, but being close to the top four in the following rounds will give us confidence and, who knows, maybe later on, we can make a sprint. It's good to always stay close to the top four to avoid feeling pressure."
For the sixth round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo returns to the field next Sunday (5), at 16 pm. Rubro-Negro receives Palmeiras, in a direct confrontation, at the Mané Garrincha stadium, in Brasília.
