Flamengo coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo explained to journalists covering the club's preseason in Londrina this Sunday (January 09.01th) the negotiations with striker Maikon Leite from Santos. According to the coach, the Flamengo legal department warned about some details that could make the signing a problem for Flamengo in the future.

"Everything was set to sign the player for four years, but Flamengo was unofficially notified, through the courts, about the pending issues involving this athlete. Therefore, the legal department rejected the deal, considering it risky. Tomorrow (Monday), I will talk to the player's representatives to find out if there was indeed an agreement with Palmeiras. That's business. If they reached an agreement with Palmeiras, that's fine. We can't do anything. He's a good player, I spoke to him on the phone, but Flamengo can't take on a problem that isn't theirs," said the coach.
