Flamengo got off to a strong start in the fight for the title in the second round of the Campeonato Carioca de Juniores. Despite key absences, coach Armênio Moura's team defeated Duque de Caxias 3-1 away from home, with goals from Christianno, Juninho, and Diego Maurício. Saba and Galhardo, injured, did not play.
After finishing fourth in the Guanabara Cup, the Gávea team is motivated to win the Rio Cup and challenge Fluminense, the first-round champion, for the state title. Coach Armênio Moura believes the team took to the field with great energy, which is why they achieved this result.
