It's a celebration of the most successful generation in the club's history, which peaked precisely with the victory over Liverpool on December 13, 1981, in Tokyo, but which had previously achieved every possible trophy—state championships, the Brazilian Championship, and the Libertadores Cup—before conquering the World Cup. Adílio, who scored the second of the three goals in the match played in Japan, remembers well how it all began.

"Thirty-five years later, I remember it like it was yesterday. This was a title we went after, and it was a mission that began with the arrival of Cláudio Coutinho as coach. He told us: 'Let's go for the world title!' The journey began with him, then Dino Sani, Carpegiani. After we were champions in the Libertadores, we ran into Coutinho at an airport; he was working in the United States at the time. And he said, 'Now all that's left is the World Cup.' Fifteen days after that, he passed away in that terrible accident. So, we went to Japan with that same spirit. I even get goosebumps talking about it," says the eternal number 8.

The World Cup 35th anniversary commemorative brand debuts on the black uniform, but it will appear on all three versions of the Sacred Mantle (below, on jerseys 1 and 2). In the match against Liverpool, then European champions, Nunes scored the other two goals, and Zico was awarded man of the match. Adílio remains emotional not only about the victory itself, but also about the impact it had on the nation—and also about his role today as a Flamengo fan.

"When I scored the goal, when it was time to celebrate, I only thought about the people at Cruzada São Sebastião, where I came from. I had promised them that I would return from Japan as World Champion. And when the game was over, we just wanted to know how the party was going in Brazil, we asked a lot, I thought a lot about the fans here. It still weighs heavily on us to have been part of that victory. And the mindset of our entire generation from the 80s is to participate in new great victories, now as fans. That is our greatest desire," he added.
