Retrospect
In the last meeting between the two teams, in the 2016 Carioca Championship, Flamengo prevailed: 3-0, with goals from Mancuello, Cirino, and Guerrero, at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium in Volta Redonda. The most important duel against Boavista was the 2011 Guanabara Cup final. On that occasion, Flamengo won 1-0, at the Engenhão stadium, packed with over 40 fans, with a free kick goal by Ronaldinho Gaúcho.

Flamengo and Boavista have faced each other only 12 times in history, all in the Campeonato Carioca, with a great advantage for Mais Querido: eight victories, compared to just one for Boavista, and three draws.

This is the fourth time Mengão has played a match at Arena das Dunas. In the first three matches, they won two and lost one: 1-0 over América-RN, 3-0 over Avaí, and 1-2 to Fluminense.
