The year of Flamengo's football will be at stake next Thursday (20.05), when Flamengo faces Universidad de Chile, in Santiago, in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the 2010 Copa Santander Libertadores. To stay alive in the tournament, the team needs to beat the home team by two goals. And to achieve this result, the team has been training hard at Ninho do Urubu.
This Monday, the players returned to training after having Sunday off following Saturday's Brasileirão match against Vitória. They performed a two-touch drill at the club's training center, led by coach Rogério Lourenço. Three teams were formed for the activity, the main purpose of which is to consolidate the team and practice the players' movement and passing skills.
"This type of training is important because it makes the game go faster. It makes the team move better. Of course, the preparation time isn't long, but the whole team already knows the opponent well. The important thing is that we're confident in the game," said Kleberson.
Ronaldo Angelim, in turn, points out that, in addition to all these activities, Flamengo needs to be very determined to achieve a positive result in Chile.
"We haven't been able to play great football this year yet, and we'll have to do that on Thursday. Their team is very balanced, has a tactical pattern, and it's going to be very difficult. But we'll do everything we can to overcome them," said defender Ronaldo Angelim.
The team returns to training at Ninho do Urubu this Tuesday and then travels to Santiago on Wednesday (19.05), where, in the evening, they will inspect the Santa Laura stadium pitch.
