In the 34th round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo had a great start to the game and beat Internacional 2-1 on Saturday night (20), at Beira Rio. Gabi and Andreas scored the red-black goals, both in the first half. With the result, Mengão reached 66 points, remains in second place and remains alive in the fight for the title.
The game
Flamengo started the match and quickly found their goal in the third minute. In a quick transition to attack, Gabi controlled the ball at the edge of the box, adjusted his body, and hit a left-footed cross into Lomba's left corner: 1-0. Mengão continued to dominate and scored the second in the 10th minute with a stunning goal! Vitinho controlled the ball on the left and passed it to Gabi at the edge of the box, who made the cutback and passed it to Everton Ribeiro. The number 7 passed it first time over the marker to Andreas, who fired it into the goalkeeper's corner: 2-0.
The red-and-black team continued to pose a significant threat on the counterattack. In the 23rd minute, Everton Ribeiro carried the ball into the midfield and passed to Vitinho on the left, who passed to Gabi, who was wide on the right. The striker controlled the ball, chose the corner, but shot wide. In the 39th minute, Vitinho made a great play in the middle, dribbling past the defense, and passed to Gabi on the left, who attempted a shot into Lomba's corner, but the goalkeeper saved.
Internacional then reduced the deficit after a swift counterattack. Taison exchanged passes with Palacios and slotted the ball into Diego Alves' corner: 2-1. In a thrilling first half, both teams pushed forward and created several clear scoring opportunities. Internacional went into halftime with the lead.
In the second half, Inter came back stronger in their defense and threatened Diego Alves' goal. Flamengo, when they did attack, also created chances. In the 17th minute, after a good exchange of passes in attack, Vitinho fired a powerful shot from the edge of the box; the ball deflected off Cuesta and forced Lomba into a great save.
In the 29th minute, Kenedy burst into the box from the left and unleashed a powerful shot, forcing Lomba to make a great save. After a 12-game absence, Arrascaeta returned to the field to regain match fitness, aiming for the Copa Libertadores final. In the 40th minute, Flamengo had Kenedy's goal disallowed by VAR.
In the final minutes, the Mais Querido managed to hold on to its first-half lead and emerged with an excellent away win. The Rubro-Negro remains hot on the heels of leaders Atlético-MG and keeps the championship in the balance.
Next appointment
Mais Querido returns to the field next Tuesday (23) to face Grêmio, at 21 pm, at Arena do Grêmio, in a delayed game of the second round of the Brazilian Championship.
