The match is valid for the sixth round of the Brasileirão. With two games less, Rubro-Negro has six points and occupies the tenth position in the championship.
Coach Rogério Ceni led a tactical session with the Flamengo players. Midfielder Gerson, recently sold to Olympique de Marseille (France), participated in his last training session wearing the sacred jersey. He will make his farewell appearance in Wednesday's game. After seven months recovering from a knee injury, Thiago Maia has been included in the squad for the match.
On FlaTV, the VP of Football, Marcos Braz, told a story about Gerson's lifelong love for Flamengo:
"When he was little, in the car with his father, he was passing through Gávea on his way to train at Fluminense and he said: 'Dad, one day I'm going to play here,'" the manager highlighted.
Flamengo and Fortaleza have faced each other 20 times, with Flamengo holding a significant advantage. They have won 12 times, drawn three, and lost five. The last match between the teams ended 0-0 at the Castelão stadium in the 2020 Brazilian Championship.
