Coach Jorge Sampaoli led a tactical drill to determine the starting lineup for the match. The Rubro-Negro team has a two-goal lead to advance to the final of the competition, having defeated the Gauchos 2-0 in Porto Alegre.

If they qualify for the final, Mengão will be competing for the title for the ninth time and will become the club with the most Copa do Brasil finals in history, alongside Grêmio. The Gávea club is the current champion of the national competition, winning its fourth title last year against Corinthians.
