After the 1-0 victory at Mineirão over América-MG, Flamengo reached the milestone of not having asked for any Minas Gerais club in 2016. In total, eight games were played with seven wins and one draw.

The first match was in the opening round of the Primeira Liga Cup. Mengão faced Atlético-MG at Mineirão Stadium and won 2-0 with two goals from striker Paolo Guerrero. In the second round, they faced another Minas Gerais club, this time América-MG, in Cariacica. With a penalty goal from Éverton, the "Mais Querido" defeated the opposing team 1-0.

In the Brazilian Championship, there were six duels. The first was in the eighth round, against Cruzeiro, at Mineirão Stadium. Réver, making his debut with the Sacred Mantle, scored the winning goal for the red-and-black team with a precise header. In the 14th round, another 2-0 victory, this time against Atlético-MG. The man of the match was young Felipe Vizeu, who scored both goals at Mané Guarrincha Stadium. Again against América-MG, in Cariacica Stadium, in the 16th round, another victory. Guerrero and Alan Patrick scored the goals for the Most Beloved.

In the second round of the competition, another victory over Cruzeiro. Playing at the Kléber de Andrade stadium, Guerrero and Mancuello scored in the Rubro-Negro's thrilling comeback: 2-1. In the 33rd round, the only draw against Minas Gerais teams this year: 2-2 against Atlético-MG, at the Mineirão stadium, with goals from Guerrero and Diego. And now, this Wednesday (16), in the last clash with a Minas Gerais team this season, a 1-0 victory over América-MG, at the Mineirão stadium, with a header from Éverton after a cross from Jorge.

In the next round, on Sunday (20), Mais Querido faces Coritiba at 19:30 pm, at Maracanã.
