Flamengo scored goals in every Brasileirão game

Rogério Lourenço comments on the brand and shows confidence in young Diego Maurício and Cristian Borja

Asked about the importance of scoring more than one goal per game in the Brazilian Championship, in a press conference after the 1-1 draw against Avaí, at Maracanã, coach Rogério Lourenço demonstrated Flamengo's spirit in the competition. The team from Gávea scored goals in every game of the tournament, but in only one, against Prudente, made more than one. A fact that, for the coach, can have two interpretations.

"It all depends on how we look at things. You can see that Flamengo only scored one goal per game, which would be a low number. I emphasize the fact that we didn't go a single game without scoring. If we hadn't conceded a goal, we would have won. That's the most important thing. As long as the team is scoring even one goal, I'll be happy. We have to worry about not conceding," he analyzed.

Therefore, the coach praised the young red-black attackers, but also demanded that the team win matches when they have the opportunity.

"We created some chances, but the ball didn't go in some games. We have to improve in this regard. Diego Maurício has great potential, but we have to be patient. Cristian too, he's a 22-year-old kid, and we can't give them all this responsibility. They're young and could be the future Adriano and Love, but they're not yet a reality," said Rogério, who is eager for the debuts of some new signings.

"We're waiting for Val Baiano, Renato, Marquinhos... We had problems with Toró and Antônio and we have few options to make changes, but with the arrival of other players, we will have more options and the group will only tend to evolve," he concluded.
