Flamengo returned to the Brasileirão in great style and with three more points away from home. After the World Cup break, the Mais Querido returned to the field this Wednesday (22) and showed all its strength by thrashing Chapecoense 4-0, at Arena Condá, in the last round of the first half of the competition. Pedro, in an inspired night, scored twice, Rafael Thyere (own goal) and Lorran completed the rout, which kept Rubro-Negro firmly in the fight for the championship lead. In addition to the impressive result, the match also marked the return of Arrascaeta to the pitch, further increasing the team's confidence for the rest of the season.

The game

Under the rain in Chapecó, the match began with Chapecoense trying to take the initiative. However, Flamengo quickly took control of the game, maintaining possession in the attacking half. On their first attack, Samuel Lino passed to Ayrton Lucas, who took a shot from outside the box. The ball went wide to the right of the post.

Chapecoense responded in the 17th minute. Giovanni Augusto shot inside the area, Rossi made a great save and parried the ball for a corner. With ample ball possession, Flamengo opened the scoring with a fantastic goal. Pedro received the ball at the edge of the area, dribbled past two defenders in a beautiful individual play and shot past the goalkeeper to put Flamengo ahead: 1-0.

After the goal, Plata felt discomfort in his right knee and was replaced by Lorran. Maintaining the rhythm and imposing themselves on the field, Flamengo extended their lead in the 37th minute. Emerson Royal crossed into the area, two Chapecoense players tried to clear, and Rafael Thyere ended up heading the ball into his own net: 2-0. In the final minutes of the first half, Flamengo managed the advantage and went into halftime with total control of the match.

Early in the second half, Flamengo scored their third goal. Pedro delivered a beautiful backheel pass to Lorran. Bruno Pacheco tried to shield the ball for the goalkeeper, but the Flamengo youth player anticipated the play and shot, forcing a save from Matheus Aurélio. On the rebound, Lorran himself volleyed it home to make it 3-0.

Midway through the final stage, Leonardo Jardim made three more substitutions. Ayrton Lucas, Jorginho, and Bruno Henrique were replaced by Alex Sandro, Everton Araujo, and Arrascaeta. It's worth highlighting the return of the number 10 to the pitch. The Uruguayan had not played since the end of April due to a clavicle injury.

With a comfortable lead, Flamengo calmly passed the ball around and faced virtually no threats from Chapecoense. In the final stretch, Flamengo scored their fourth goal. Emerson Royal crossed into the box, the defense partially cleared, and the ball fell to Samuel Lino. The striker shot from outside the area, Pedro headed it in to give Matheus Aurélio no chance of making a save, sealing the rout in Chapecó: 4-0.

Besides scoring his second goal of the match, Pedro reached 12 goals in the Brasileirão and further solidified his position as the competition's top scorer. What a great run of form for our P9!
