Victory on track
The game started with the opponent creating the first chances, but the clearest opportunity was for Flamengo: Everton created a dangerous header after a throw-in by Rodinei, who was one of the team's standouts. Flamengo opened the scoring with Diego in the 14th minute. After a well-worked play between the number 35 himself, Guerrero, and Rodinei, the midfielder picked up the rebound and volleyed it home with his right foot to score a fantastic goal. And Flamengo didn't take long to extend their lead: now the provider, Diego found Guerrero inside the area, and the Peruvian only had to chip the ball over the goalkeeper to celebrate: 2-0. And the star player didn't just play as a provider and goalscorer that night – the midfielder also displayed grit and dedication in every challenge, both in defense and attack.
At 39 minutes, another great play from the number 9. Everton delivered a perfect pass to Guerrero, who finished with his left foot, forcing the goalkeeper to make a one-on-one save. Shortly before the half-time whistle, Trauco and Rodinei, confident, took their chances and also made the goalkeeper work hard: the first from long range, the second from a low cross.
A scare and a thrashing.
Flamengo didn't rest on their lead and started the second half pressing high up the pitch and looking for a goal. Guerrero, twice, and Trauco threatened three times before the clock hit five minutes. Then, Chapecoense grew into the game and found a goal in the 11th minute. Flamengo responded soon after, with Guerrero making sharp runs down the right flank, an attack that allowed Flamengo to once again dominate the match. And the certainty of victory – and a rout – came in just seven minutes: in the 29th, 33rd, and 36th minutes, Guerrero, Diego, and once again Guerrero, secured the second victory in two games at Ilha do Urubu.
