Diego Maurício shone again, scoring twice, and Flamengo's youth team earned three more important points in the Taça Rio de Janeiro competition this Wednesday. The Flamengo youth team, after crushing Boavista 7-1 last weekend, delivered another rout at Gávea. This time, the victim was Macaé. Vinícius Paquetá and Saba completed the 4-1 victory.
This was the team's sixth win in the competition. Coach Paulo Henrique's team has only lost to Fluminense and drawn with Volta Redonda, but already has 19 points after six rounds. The competition leader, however, is Vasco. The team from São Januário beat Volta Redonda 3-2 away from home this Wednesday and remains in first place with 20 points.
"The match was smooth. Our team had a different approach and controlled the game from the start. We were up 3-0, but we conceded a goal, but soon after we scored a fourth and could have even scored more. The team is in good shape, in sync, and really wanting to win this title," explained goalkeeper Marcelo Carné.
The Gávea team's next match in the state championship has not yet been determined, as the team begins the Belo Horizonte Junior Football Cup on the 24th against Guarani-SP. In the competition, Fla also faces Caxias, Seleção de Brumadinho, Atlético, and Siderúrgica.
Super Cup - In addition to the State Championship and the Taça BH, Flamengo will have another important championship this season. Athletes born in 1991 and 1992 will compete in the Super Copa São Paulo de Juniores, starting on July 15th at Arena Barueri. This Thursday, the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF) will hold a conference to define the details of the tournament, which will feature, in addition to Flamengo, three other Brazilian teams (Palmeiras, Corinthians, and Santos) and four foreign teams (Boca Juniors, Sevilla, Porto, and Peñarol).
