The game

In the opening moments of the game, both teams sought to control possession and exchange passes in the attacking third. And, on their first good attack, Flamengo opened the scoring after just seven minutes. Arrascaeta launched Samuel Lino down the left wing, the striker entered the box and delivered a low cross perfectly for Pedro to tap into the net: 1-0. It was the number 9's 14th goal of the season, his sixth in the Brasileirão.

After taking the lead, Flamengo began to control possession even more, exchanging passes in the attacking half, and almost extended their lead in the 15th minute. Pedro delivered a beautiful backheel pass to Arrascaeta, who advanced at speed, cut inside and shot towards the corner. Everson stretched out to his full extent to prevent Flamengo's second goal.

At the 30-minute mark, Flamengo extended their lead with a beautiful goal from Plata. The Ecuadorian player surged through the middle, dribbled past three defenders, and placed a shot from outside the box. The ball nestled into the bottom right corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance. With this goal, we can truly call Atlético-MG's stadium the Gonzalo Plata Arena!

To crown his great performance in the first half, Arrascaeta scored the third goal in the 45th minute. Plata backheeled the ball to Varela, who delivered a perfect cross, and the number 10 rose higher than the Atlético defense to head it firmly into the net: 3-0. It was the Uruguayan's 11th goal against Atlético-MG. With that, Flamengo went into halftime with a comfortable lead and total control of the match.

Returning for the second half, Flamengo maintained the same formation. Needing to reduce the deficit, Atlético-MG began to attack more frequently and created some danger, but encountered a well-organized Flamengo defense. With the result under control, Flamengo adopted a more strategic approach, exploiting counter-attacks.

Before the 30-minute mark, coach Leonardo Jardim made changes to the team: Luiz Araújo replaced Samuel Lino, and Saúl substituted Jorginho. Subsequently, Bruno Henrique and Ayrton Lucas also entered the field, replacing Arrascaeta and Alex Sandro, respectively.

In the final stretch, Flamengo turned their superiority into a rout. After a beautiful passing sequence inside the area, Evertton Araújo passed to Pedro who tapped the ball into the back of the net, scoring his second goal of the match and the fourth for Flamengo. In stoppage time, Evertton Araújo hit the crossbar and almost scored a fifth.

With this result, Flamengo achieved its seventh consecutive victory of the season and confirmed the great moment of the team led by Leonardo Jardim, which has 26 points and remains close behind the leader Palmeiras, with one game less.
