Flamengo defeated Duque de Caxias 5-1 this Sunday at Maracanã Stadium in a third-round match of the State Championship. With the victory, Flamengo maintained its lead in Group A and its unbeaten run in the Campeonato Carioca.

Flamengo quickly took the initiative and, without much danger, easily secured the victory. The first good chance came just five minutes in, with striker Souza missing a good opportunity in the penalty area.

In the 20th minute, Flamengo opened the scoring. Defender Marcinho received a cross from Toró and finished into the net, scoring his first goal for Flamengo.

Dominating the midfield, the Gávea team quickly extended their lead, with Ibson firing a cross-shot past goalkeeper Fernando. Six minutes later, Léo Moura capitalized on a rebound from the Duque de Caxias goalkeeper to make it 3-0 for Flamengo.

Late in the first half, Juan was brought down in the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. Souza took the penalty with skill, closing the first half 4-0.

Flamengo returned for the second half with the same rhythm. Just four minutes in, Ibson and Léo Moura made a great play, and the midfielder finished for the goal. The number seven was the standout performer of the match, scoring two goals. A few minutes later, Marcinho nearly scored another, but goalkeeper Fernando saved for Duque de Caxias.

Coach Joel Santana decided to change the team, taking off captain Fábio Luciano and forwards Souza and Marcinho, for the entries of Rodrigo, Obina and Maxi.

In the 37th minute, Duque de Caxias managed to reduce the deficit with Eduardo, who sent a cross shot past goalkeeper Bruno.

Flamengo passed the ball around and waited for the referee's whistle to celebrate their third consecutive victory in the Campeonato Carioca. In the next round, the red-and-black team faces Macaé on Wednesday at the Maracanã stadium.
