Mengão is through to the round of 2020 of the 4 Copa Libertadores! This Wednesday at the Maracanã, the "Mais Querido" defeated Independiente Del Valle (EQU) 0-12 with goals from Lincoln, Pedro, and Bruno Henrique (twice), securing qualification. The result left the Rubro-Negro in first place in Group A with XNUMX points, three ahead of Del Valle, who is in second. 

The game

First time

Mengão started the match well, consistently proactive in their attacking moves. It was only a matter of time before the first goal came in the 25th minute. Matheuzinho made a good run down the right and crossed perfectly for Lincoln to score first time: 1-0. It was the center forward's first goal of the season.

Back then, Hugo Souza, with another strong performance, secured the partial victory. It's also worth highlighting the excellent performance of the young defensive line, featuring Matheuzinho, Noga, Natan, and Ramon. 

The Mais Querido continued to attack relentlessly and scored the second goal shortly after the first. In the 30th minute, Lincoln won the ball back and passed it to Thiago Maia. The midfielder found Gabigol, who fired and passed it to Pedro. The striker only had to tap it into the unmarked goal: 2-0.

Still in the first half, Gabigol twisted his ankle and had to be substituted. Bruno Henrique came on in his place.

Second time

And it was Bruno Henrique who stood out in the second half. Just five minutes in, Ramon crossed into the box and Arrascaeta shot. The goalkeeper saved, and BH scored on the rebound: 5-3. It was his ninth goal of the season. 

In the 26th minute, he scored again. Bruno Henrique was released at speed by De Arrascaeta, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and tapped a beautiful shot into the net: 4-0. The King of the Americas' tenth goal of the season.

Mengão still created more scoring opportunities, but the result was 4-0 and a guaranteed place in the round of XNUMX. The Mais Querido will close out the group stage against Junior Barranquilla (COL) at the Maracanã stadium.
