Flamengo thrashes Ypiranga-AP

The 11-1 result puts the red-black team close to qualifying.

Flamengo's youth team defeated Ypiranga-AP 11-1 tonight (January 09th) at the Barão da Serra Negra Stadium in Piracicaba. With the rout, the team from Gávea practically secured a spot in the next round of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup.

On the field, Flamengo completely dominated the game. Just 11 minutes in, Paulo Sérgio connected with a cross, opening the scoring for Clube da Gávea.

Flamengo continued to give their opponents no space, and Pedro Beda, in the 19th minute, extended Flamengo's lead. The number nine took advantage of a mistake by the Ypiranga-AP goalkeeper and made the most of the opportunity. Three minutes later, right-back Michel received a pass from Renan and finished with aplomb, making it 3-0 Flamengo.

In the 29th minute, Paulo Sérgio scored his second goal, following a rebound from the opposing goalkeeper. Pedro Beda nearly added another in the 30th minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Two minutes later, Flamengo defender Jobson was brought down inside the box. Paulo Sérgio slotted home with skill, making it 5-0. Gávea's number 19 was having an inspired night, scoring another stunning goal in the 36th minute.

Ypiranga-AP reduced the deficit with Thiego, who finished off a cross into the box. Flamengo responded quickly in the 42nd minute, with full-back Jobson making a great play before finishing into the corner of the Ypiranga-AP goalkeeper's net.

Flamengo returned for the second half maintaining the same rhythm as the first. Erick Flores, Pedro Beda, Renan, and Paulo Sérgio tormented the opposing defense. The eighth goal soon followed, once again from Paulo Sérgio. The striker scored his fifth goal, finishing off a backheel cross. Another stunning goal from the young striker.

Flamengo coach Rogério Lourenço decided to make changes to his lineup, bringing on Guilherme Camacho, Bruno Paulo, and Juninho. In the 33rd minute, Juninho himself scored another goal for Flamengo, heading in a cross into the box.

Juninho doubled the lead in the 40th minute by deflecting another ball into the box. In the 43rd minute, Erick Flores sealed the rout with another beautiful goal. The midfielder dribbled past several opponents before finishing powerfully for Ypiranga-AP.

With the 11-1 victory, Flamengo virtually secured a spot in the next stage of the competition. The red-and-black team faces XV de Piracicaba in the final round of the first stage. The match is part of Group N of the São Paulo Cup.
