What a victory! In the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo beat Santos 4-1 on Sunday afternoon (13), at Maracanã. The Rubro-Negro's goals were scored by Gerson, Gabigol (twice) and Filipe Luís. With the result, Mengão reached 45 points and remained in third place in the championship.

The game
Flamengo started the match attacking Santos and created a good opportunity in the fourth minute. Bruno Henrique delivered a first-time pass to Gabigol, who managed to dribble past the goalkeeper, but was left with no angle and set up the ball. As he tried to pass, the ball bounced off João Paulo and went out for a corner.

In the 19th minute, Bruno Henrique made a good run down the left and played a pass back. Arrascaeta got there with a shot, but the ball went just wide of the goalkeeper's left post. A minute later, Gerson crossed to the far post for Bruno Henrique, who headed wide.

Having created so many scoring opportunities, Mengão scored their first in the 41st minute. After a corner kick, Arrascaeta picked up the rebound on the left and launched it into the box. The striker beat his marker and crossed, João Paulo cleared, and Filipe Luís collected the rebound. The left-back coolly beat his marker and slotted home with his right foot: 3-0.

In the 25th minute, Santos' goalkeeper conceded a penalty on Everton Ribeiro. Gabigol stepped up to take the penalty again and scored Mengão's fourth goal, making it 4-0. In the 29th minute, Santos reduced the deficit with a Bruninho header, making it 4-1. Dominating the game, Santos' Mais Querido worked the ball through Santos' midfield and created chances. In the 38th minute, Pepê advanced with the ball and fired a shot that hit the top of the crossbar.
