Neymar scored the only goal of the match in the final stretch of the second half and decreed the victory of the black-and-whites. Despite the defeat, Rubro-Negro remains momentarily in the lead of the championship and will have the Fla-Flu next Sunday (20) to try to find victory again.

The game

With both teams seeking victory, the match started quite openly, with Flamengo and Santos attacking. Mengão's first chance came just three minutes in, with Bruno Henrique receiving the ball at the edge of the box and taking a shot that went just wide of the goalkeeper's right post. 

Little by little, the red-and-black team began to gain more possession in the attacking half, circling the Santos penalty area. A great opportunity arose in the 20th minute. Arrascaeta played a one-two with Plata, advanced into the box, and passed the ball back to the Ecuadorian. He struck powerfully, forcing Gabriel Brazão to make a great save, palming it out for a corner. 

In the final minutes, Luiz Araújo took a free kick into the box, and Danilo headed it in, forcing another great save from Gabriel Brazão. The Mais Querido had greater possession and remained in the attacking half longer, but failed to find the net in the first half. 

With Léo Pereira replacing Ortiz, Flamengo returned for the second half with intense attacking intensity. Just two minutes in, Arrascaeta delivered a beautiful backheel pass to Plata, who found himself face-to-face with the goalkeeper.
