Flamengo cheering against the rain

Bruno and Andrade ask the heavens for a truce to hold the match against Universidad de Chile

Rio de Janeiro and Flamengo are hoping against the rain. For the red-and-black team, which has a game against Universidad de Chile scheduled for this Wednesday (07.04) at Maracanã, it would be best if the rain stopped to avoid postponing the match. If the heavy rain continues into the early hours of today, there is a chance the match will be played on Thursday.

Coach Andrade acknowledges that there's not much he can do, other than ask Saint Peter to give him a break in the next few hours.

\

"Rio is at a standstill. But if they postpone the game, it will be bad because we have the game against Vasco on Sunday. We can only hope that the rain stops," he said.

\

This is a decisive moment for Flamengo in the competition, and so goalkeeper Bruno warns: if the game actually takes place, the red-blacks will go all out.

\

"This rainy weather is only pleasant for those who are at home. But if the Maracanã is in good condition, we'll go out onto the field happy," said the goalkeeper, who lamented the difficult time the city is going through.

\

"I'm saddened by the suffering of the people of Rio. I know this is a difficult time. I think of the father who worked on the street and lost everything. I can only send strength and pray for the people who lost their lives," he concluded.
