Coach Silas will have two important absences for next Saturday's match (September 11.09) against Vitória, in Volta Redonda. Right-back and captain Leonardo Moura and striker Diogo will not be able to play against the Rubro-Negro from Bahia. The former was sent off and the latter received his third yellow card in this Wednesday's match (September 08.09) against São Paulo, at Morumbi Stadium. Both will serve suspensions for the weekend's round.
The full-back lamented the fact that he was left out of such an important game for Flamengo, who currently sit in sixteenth place in the table with 22 points.
"It's really bad to be out at a time like this. I always want to help my team and unfortunately I'll be suspended against Vitória, but I'll be back against Prudente," he said.
Diogo, who received a yellow card in the 38th minute and a red card in the 39th, after an incident in which he allegedly tried to win a penalty, regretted his expulsion and denied that he had tried to deceive the referee.
"The guy put his hand in my face, it will appear later in the video. I didn't try to get a penalty," he said.
Galhardo and Everton Silva are likely to compete for the right-back spot. Leandro Amaral, Diego Maurício, and Val Baiano could be fielded in Diogo's place. A three-man center-back lineup is also not ruled out.
