A successful event doesn't end on the day itself. The open training session that Flamengo held on April 17th went far beyond the field. With over 45 fans, the Maracanã stadium was completely filled with Flamengo colors for the final stretch of preparation before the match against Santa Fe in the Conmebol Libertadores.

But, in addition to supporting the team, the fans gave an unforgettable example of solidarity and commitment, with food donations that reached fantastic numbers. To get a ticket to the event, fans had to exchange 1 kg of non-perishable food for a ticket at the club's official stores. And the fans understood.

Forty tons of food were received and accumulated. Thirty-three tons will be delivered by Flamengo to 40 institutions, and the other seven tons will be delivered to Rio Solidário, which will distribute them among its accredited network, serving thousands of people. And it's not just about receiving and passing on the food. A gigantic operational logistics operation was prepared to maintain the quality of the donations and ensure equal delivery to all institutions.

According to Flamengo's Vice President of Marketing, Daniel Orlean, the entire process demonstrates the strength and unity of the Flamengo Nation with the team. It also opens the possibility of new interactions in the future, going beyond the games. It's a very intense synergy that can be used to help many people.

"I think we took several positive things away from the open training event. First, it was another opportunity to bring the team closer to the fans. Both the fans, who will remember the event, and the team itself, which learned lessons from it that will last for several games. And it's really great to see the strength of the Nation helping thousands of people with donations. It was an action that had a very large social impact, but it also had an impact on what Flamengo is all about," said Orlean.

There will be two stages. After receiving the donations, Flamengo stored them at Maracanã in two rooms with thorough sanitization and control procedures. A sorting process was carried out by food type and expiration date. A team of 22 people worked to separate the food into 10kg blocks to facilitate deliveries.
The entire process will take place during the month of May. Some deliveries will be made in batches and others at special events.

This Friday (04), the club will deliver 300kg of food to the Parish of São Sebastião, in Cruzada, with the presence of president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, vice-president of marketing Daniel Orlean and vice-president of football Ricardo Lomba. On the 08th, it will be the turn of Morro do Dendê, with the presence of former stars Júlio César and Adílio.
