Flamengo is out of the Campeonato Carioca. Playing in Manaus, the "Mais Querido" (the most beloved team) was defeated by Vasco da Gama 2-0 and now turns its attention to the Campeonato Brasileiro. Their first challenge will be against Sport Recife.

The game

Needing a win, Flamengo pressed forward from the start. With Marcelo Cirino and Gabriel wide open, the team sought out plays from the baseline to try to pin down the opponent. Despite dominating the area, Flamengo was unable to break down the opposing defense. Still in the first half, Riascos opened the scoring after a rebound in the Flamengo penalty area.

In the second half, Muricy Ramalho brought on Alan Patrick to replace Gabriel. Flamengo attacked Vasco, who capitalized on the space and scored the second goal.

With the Arena da Amazônia packed and the nation's support, Flamengo bids farewell to the State Championship and now focuses on the Copa do Brasil and the Brazilian Championship.
