Flamengo loses on penalties to Fluminense in the Rio Cup final
The two teams will face each other again in the final of the Campeonato Carioca
By Romulo Paranhos - inFlamengo took to the field on Wednesday night (08), at Maracanã, and was defeated on penalties by Fluminense 3-2. The match ended in a 1-1 draw in normal time, with Pedro scoring the red-black goal. Now, Mais Querido will face the tricolor team in two more games to define who will be the 2020 Carioca champion.

O JOGO
The match began with both teams closely studying each other and with tight marking on both sides. Flamengo tried to play the ball into the opponent's half, but struggled to enter the box. In the 37th minute, Fluminense took the lead. Egídio took a free kick from the left, and Gilberto rose highest to head home: 1-0.
In the second half, Flamengo came back better organized and began to have more possession, exchanging passes in the attacking midfield. In the 19th minute, the red-and-black team created a threat. Filipe Luís advanced down the left and crossed. Gerson rose to the second floor and headed the ball firmly. The ball went just wide of the post. After persistent persistence, Mengão managed to equalize in the 31st minute. Filipe Luís received the ball on the left and crossed perfectly for Pedro to head into the back of the net: 1-1. The red-and-black team still created opportunities to turn the match around, but the match ended in a draw and went to penalties.
In the penalties, Fluminense got the better of it and won 3-2.

Flamengo will play again next Sunday (12) against Fluminense, at 16 pm, at Maracanã. The match is valid for the first match of the final of the Campeonato Carioca.
