The game
Flamengo started the match valuing possession, with short, quick passes. The first good opportunity came in the fifth minute. Gerson passed to Cebolinha on the left, who made a run and crossed into the box for Bruno Henrique to head over the bar.
Although the red-and-black team started better, Atlético-MG opened the scoring in the 7th minute. Hulk passed to Paulinho, who finished past Rossi to make it 1-0. Atlético-MG tried to respond quickly. Cebolinha took a corner kick and Léo Pereira headed it, forcing the goalkeeper to make a great save.
Atlético-MG, meanwhile, moved the ball around in midfield and killed time. Defensively, the Minas Gerais team managed to block the red-and-black attacks. In the 35th minute, Cebolinha received the ball at the edge of the box and fired a well-placed shot. The ball hit the post. The equalizer was nearly equalized.
In the final minutes of the first half, Atlético Mineiro pressed forward. Arrascaeta took a free kick into the box, and Bruno Henrique headed it in, drawing a great save from Everson. Tite's team went into the break trailing.
At the start of the second half, Atlético-MG took advantage of the counterattack to extend their lead with Edenílson, who came face to face with Rossi and scored the second: 2-0. With two up front, the Minas Gerais team waited for Flamengo to fall back and launch a counterattack.
At 36', Atlético-MG scored the third with Rubens, which gave the final numbers to the game: 3-0.
