The game

Resting some starters, Flamengo started the match controlling possession, exchanging passes in the attacking half to create space in Atlético's defense. After the red-and-black pressure in the opening minutes subsided, the Minas Gerais team leveled the game and came from behind to try attacking plays.

The game's overall structure was similar to last Sunday's: Flamengo took the initiative, exchanging passes in the attacking half, while Atlético closed up tight, waiting to mount counterattacks. The first big chance came in the 30th minute. Matheus Gonçalves threatened to go to the baseline and played a short pass to Evertton Araujo, who cleared the play and struck a well-placed shot. The ball hit the crossbar.

In the final minutes of the first half, Rubro-Negro created another good opportunity. Plata played a one-two with Pedro and shot hard, but Everson made a good save to prevent the goal. The teams went to the locker room unchanged.

After halftime, the match continued as before. Atlético remained defensively tight, making it difficult for the red-and-black team to attack. Before the 15th minute, coach Filipe Luís made three substitutions at once. Viña, Luiz Araújo, and Matheus Gonçalves were replaced by Ayrton Lucas, Wallace Yan, and debutant Samuel Lino.

In the 20th minute, Atlético opened the scoring after a Flamengo error in the ball out. Léo Pereira attempted a pass to Ortiz, but Cuello anticipated the ball and fired it into the corner to make it 1-0. After conceding the goal, the red-and-black team went all out in search of an equalizer. Emerson Royal and Saúl came on as substitutes and also made their debuts wearing the Manto.

Another good chance was created in the 35th minute. Samuel Lino came down the left and crossed to the far post. Emerson Royal got ahead of his marker and slid the ball over the bar, which hit the crossbar before going out. In the next play, Saúl passed to Samuel Lino on the left, who dribbled past Lyanco, burst into the box, and shot into the corner. Everson made a great save to prevent the equalizer.

In stoppage time, Samuel Lino managed to find the net, but the assistant referee raised the flag and flagged the striker offside. The match ended in defeat. The Mais Querido will need to win by two goals in the return leg to qualify.
