The game

Resting some starters, Flamengo started the match controlling possession, exchanging passes in the attacking half to create space in Atlético's defense. After the red-and-black pressure in the opening minutes subsided, the Minas Gerais team leveled the game and came from behind to try attacking plays.

In the 20th minute, Atlético opened the scoring after a Flamengo error in the ball out. Léo Pereira attempted a pass to Ortiz, but Cuello anticipated the ball and fired it into the corner to make it 1-0. After conceding the goal, the red-and-black team went all out in search of an equalizer. Emerson Royal and Saúl came on as substitutes and also made their debuts wearing the Manto.
